XRP Ledger upgrade brings back features once pulled over critical bugs

The XRP Ledger is set to roll out version xrpld 3.3.0, restoring two high‑profile features—Batch processing and Permission Delegation—that were temporarily disabled after critical bugs were discovered last year.

Why the Features Were Removed

Both Batch and Permission Delegation were pulled from the mainnet in early 2025 after security researchers identified vulnerabilities that could allow malformed transactions to bypass validation checks. The ledger’s developers responded by halting the features and issuing emergency patches to protect user funds.

Bug Fixes Paving the Way for Return

The upcoming 3.3.0 release incorporates a suite of fixes: a hardened transaction ordering engine, stricter signature verification, and improved state‑tree consistency checks. These changes address the root causes that triggered the earlier shutdown, according to the XRP Ledger core team.

With the bugs resolved, the team has re‑enabled Batch processing, allowing multiple transactions to be submitted in a single ledger close, and Permission Delegation, which lets account owners grant limited authority to third‑party services without exposing private keys.

What the Restored Features Mean for Users

Batch processing reduces network congestion and transaction fees by bundling operations, a benefit especially valuable for high‑frequency traders and institutional participants.

Permission Delegation enhances security for custodial solutions and DeFi integrations, as it enables granular access controls while keeping master keys offline.
