Amazon Web Services now supports one‑to‑one network address translation on Transit Gateway and Cloud WAN links, streamlining inter‑VPC routing and connectivity.
Amazon Web Services announced today that Transit Gateway and Cloud WAN attachments now support per‑connection NAT, enabling one‑to‑one network address translation for each link and simplifying inter‑VPC routing.
What is per‑connection NAT?
Per‑connection NAT assigns a unique public IP address to each individual attachment, rather than sharing a pool of addresses across multiple connections. This provides clearer traffic attribution and reduces the risk of address collisions.
Benefits for Transit Gateway
With per‑connection NAT, Transit Gateway customers can route traffic between VPCs and on‑premises networks without complex NAT gateway configurations, improving latency and operational overhead.
Benefits for Cloud WAN
Cloud WAN users gain the same one‑to‑one translation, making global network fabrics easier to manage and troubleshoot, especially in multi‑region deployments.
- Simplified network design
- Improved security visibility
- Reduced need for additional NAT gateways
- Better performance through direct address mapping
The feature is available immediately for new and existing Transit Gateway and Cloud WAN attachments, with no additional cost beyond standard data processing fees.
