Mozilla is set to roll out its highly anticipated “Nova” redesign for Firefox 157, bringing rounded UI elements and pastel gradients to the browser’s default look by the end of September.
What’s new in the Nova redesign
The Nova redesign introduces a softer visual language, replacing sharp corners with rounded edges across tabs, menus, and dialog boxes. Subtle pastel gradients replace the previous flat color scheme, giving the interface a more modern, approachable feel.
In addition to visual tweaks, Mozilla has refined the placement of key controls, such as moving the “Customize” button to a more prominent spot on the toolbar and updating the settings icon to match the new aesthetic.
Rollout timeline
The redesign will be enabled by default for all users in Firefox 157, scheduled for release in late September 2026. Early adopters can preview the changes through the Firefox Beta channel before the final rollout.
User feedback and customization
Mozilla has opened a feedback forum where users can share impressions of the new design. For those who prefer the classic look, a toggle in the Appearance settings will allow a quick switch back to the previous theme.
