Amazon Web Services has added C8gb instances, powered by its new Graviton4 chips, promising up to 30% higher compute performance and greater EBS bandwidth across multiple regions.

Amazon Web Services announced the launch of C8gb EC2 instances, the latest offering powered by its fourth‑generation Graviton4 processors. The new instances are available in the United States, Europe and Africa, delivering up to 30% higher compute performance and increased EBS bandwidth compared with the previous Graviton3‑based offerings.

Key specifications of C8gb instances

C8gb instances feature 64 vCPUs, 256 GiB of memory and support for up to 100 Gbps of network throughput. They are optimized for workloads that demand high compute density, such as batch processing, scientific simulations and high‑performance web services.

  • 64 vCPUs based on Graviton4 silicon
  • 256 GiB DDR5 memory
  • Up to 30% higher compute performance over Graviton3
  • Enhanced EBS bandwidth for faster storage I/O

Regional availability

The C8gb family is initially rolled out in 12 AWS Regions, including US East (N. Virginia), US West (Oregon), EU (Frankfurt), EU (London) and Africa (Cape Town). Additional regions are slated for release later in the year.

Target use cases

Enterprises can leverage C8gb instances for compute‑intensive tasks such as machine‑learning model training, large‑scale data analytics, video transcoding and real‑time gaming back‑ends. The improved EBS throughput also benefits database workloads that require rapid read/write cycles.

Graviton4 delivers a new level of performance‑per‑dollar for our customers, and C8gb extends that value to the most demanding workloads.

Customers can order C8gb instances through the standard EC2 console, CLI or API, and pricing follows the on‑demand, Reserved and Spot models already available for other instance families.
