AWS has announced the general availability of AWS Interconnect, a new multicloud networking service that links Amazon Web Services with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Google Cloud.

What is AWS Interconnect?

AWS Interconnect is a managed connectivity solution that enables customers to establish private, high‑performance links between their VPCs in AWS and workloads running in OCI or Google Cloud. The service is designed to simplify network architecture, reduce latency, and provide consistent security controls across cloud environments.

Key capabilities

  • Dedicated private fiber paths with up to 100 Gbps throughput
  • Built‑in encryption and IAM‑based access controls
  • Automatic failover and health monitoring
  • Support for hybrid on‑premises extensions via AWS Direct Connect

The service leverages existing AWS Direct Connect locations and OCI FastConnect points of presence, allowing customers to provision connections through the AWS Management Console or API without needing third‑party networking gear.

Customers can start a trial through the AWS console, where they can select the destination cloud, bandwidth tier, and configure routing policies before committing to a long‑term contract.
